We don’t know yet what the”elements” of the various recreational bits and pieces might be…..but here’s one possibility that might “fit” well in a portion of waterfront park – an outdoor checkerboard (or chessboard). This photo comes from Vancouver Parks archives, and is nearly 100 years old….but….could be relaxing fun for seniors (any and all ages really) on summer evenings or weekends. Grab your coffee from the Wharf, sit around and chat/watch/play with some friends.

With simple B&W tiles and a bench seat (playing pieces kept inside?) , something like this might fit in well at the south east end of the promenade? Maybe covered – with similar covered structure as at north east end of promenade? keep it wheel chair/ walker/walking pole and mobility scooter friendly?
