Bilingual street names for Mapua?

Hello Friends of Måpua Waterfront

I’m in Vancouver till may 15 doing a bit of teaching at UBC (Universityy of British Columbia)

It turns out that UBC (8000+ residents and academics alike) is a quasi “municipality” that resides on native Musqueam Indian land . The UBC community takes seriously its cultural history. Just recently they had a ceremony renaming nine streets in a phonetic alphabet developed for the traditional oral language . see this cbc article

UBC bilingual street signage
What about  developing the road signage in and around the Village, Waterfront park  and the Wharf with bilingual street names ? Maybe we could take a leaf out of UBC’s books that would create an attractive, and practical,  daily reminder  the area’s måori history ? It’s simple for sure, but effective and very “public” – could reinforce whatever other signage we might develop ?
